To add new categories to your WordPress blog:

  1. Login to your dashboard
  2. Click on Posts
  3. Click on Categories
  4. Enter your category name into the Category Name input box
  5. Enter a category slug into the Category Slug input box. ** This step is not necessary. If you leave the box blank a slug will be automatically created based on your category name. ( A slug is the name of the page as displayed in the URL bar. For example if you visit, the slug would be wordpress-for-absolute-beginners
  6. Select the parent category (leave this set to None unless you are creating this category under another category to make it a sub-category)
  7. Add a category description (This step is not necessary. The field can be left blank. The majority of themes don’t have the code needed to make the description display so even if you add a category description, unless you are using a theme that comes already configured to show the description, the description will not be visible.
  8. Hit the Add Category button

You should now be able to view your category in your categories list when you go to make a post. You might not be able to see the category in the user side category menu until the category contains posts. It depends on your theme and how it’s setup to display categories. By default categories will only be visible to users if they have posts in them.

The CSS Styling tool was used to modify the design)

Run Producer in static mode to use the out of the box design or switch to widgets to drag and drop featured categories where you want them and mix them up with your other widgets to achieve the look you want for your site.

Magazine mode has 2 layout options.

Header section items ( logo/slogan row, horizontal menu row, search bar row, hidden leaderboard row) can be rearranged.

The CSS styling tool is the only thing not included in the free package. As with any other theme, you can still edit the styles manually to achieve the look you want. The below is an example of a design done with the CSS Styling tool using Producer in non-magazine mode.

Example of a desgin done with the CSS Styling Tool

The CSS Styling tool has been created to make the task of changing the look of your theme as easy as entering the colors, sizes, image file URLs and other styling elements into a text box and pressing the submit button.   The CSS styling tool is pretty extensive as it aims to give you control over as many styling elements as possible. This means you can create completely new designs without having to change any code, which will make updating theme versions less of a hassle. It’s a lifesaver for anyone who doesn’t know how to edit PHP code and even for those who do but prefer a simpler, faster way of getting the job done.

Producer is in the first phase of it’s life. If you are using the theme and would like to help improve it please report any problems you are experiencing with it.

WP 2 CL Classifieds Theme turns an ordinary wordpress installation into a classifieds listing site modeled after craigslist. Just install wordpress, upload WP 2 CL Classifieds, activate WP 2 CL Classifieds and you’re well on your way to having your own listings site. Setting up your listing sites works the same way as setting up your wordpress blog. Add categories for your listings site the same way you add categories to any ordinary wordpress blog. The regions (countries, cities, states) are  wordpress pages. You add a region by creating a page with the region name. WP 2 CL Classifieds will be able to organize your listings according to the location under which they are posted thereby making your pages like region categories that can be browsed like ordinary wordpress categories.

WP 2 CL Classifieds Theme uses the features already built into wordpress to turn your wordpress installation into a classifieds listing site like craigslist. Users register on your site using the regular wordpress registration. Of course you need to make sure you have registration allowed in your wordpress settings, and you need to set the default user role to contributor. To help you control spam and better organize your listings, only registered users are allowed to submit listings. There is a built-in reply to ad system. You can allow or disallow non-registered users replying to ads from the theme options page.

Once a user is registered and logged in, they can add listings the same way they would add a regular wordpress post. The system uses a simple post process to collect the minimum required information to make the post. After the user has submitted a listing, the user can modify the listing at any time using the post editing feature built into wordpress.
