I created a website for an non-profit using New Magazine 640. I customized heavily. Basically, I put static content in most of the front page places, including a YouTube video. You can see at:

The problem is that the site loads very slowly. Could you please help me with tips to speed it up. I don't have much money (we're just starting this non-profit now), but I'd be willing to pay for some help if that's the best way.

Here is what I think I should do, but I'm a bit nervous to start operating:

1. Eliminate all the functions I don't need (in functions.php)

2. Eliminate all the CSS I don't need (this I can do)

3. Trim all the code from my template pages that I don't need

4. Fix errors (that I probably created while customizing)

I HOPE these four steps will be enough to make the page load quickly enough. If not, I may have to consider if the Google calendar or any of my plug-ins is slowing things down. (I think the plug-ins are not a problem.)

I really need tips from people who have been under the hood with this theme.
