Figured it out! News Magazine 640 uses TimThumb to create the thumbnails on the homepage. I downloaded the newest version of TimThumb.php (http://code.google.com/p/timthumb/) and renamed it to "cropper.php." Then I FTPed into my News Magazine 640 folder under the Themes folder on Wordpress. Renamed the old "cropper.php" to "cropper_OLD.php." Finally I uploaded the new "cropper.php" on my desktop to overwrite the old.

Working again after PHP 5.4 upgrade!

Hello using news magazine 640 1.7 and Wordpress 3.5.1. My hosting company is switching to php 5.4. Noticed that my thumbnails no longer work on the homepage. I have tried different thumbnail switchers in theme settings. No luck. Ideas?

You can display a banner in the header of your page to the far right of your title/logo by entering the complete banner code

I used this theme (v1.5.4) a couple of years ago as part of a project, now my wife wants to run an online news blog and wants to use the same theme.

The latest version I can find to download is 1.6 so I dl'd it. It works fine except for the thumbnail issue that I'm seeing all through this forum, basically they don't show anywhere on the front page and that seems to have been a problem for at least the past 3 years which is why I'm wondering if you guys have just given up developing it.

I'm running WP 3.4.1 as a multisite with buddypress on the main site and wish to put the news site as a subdomain - news.domainname.com - Is this possible ?

If it is possible, then why don't the thumbnails show ?

And what is the latest version of this theme and where do I get it ?

And how do I fix the thumbnails ?

I'm having a Wordpress or News Magazine Theme 640 theme issue that's effecting one of my sidebars and won't allow widgets to be placed. It's a conflict somewhere but way out of my ability to determine what it is. I've been trying for months. If you have any suggestions to remedy, you'd help restore my sanity and I'd appreciate it greatly.

The sidebar in question is "Sidebar Other" on the widget page ("Sidebar2" on the Wordpress editor). Redundant code involving these, possibly also the Stylesheet. On the page, it's the first sidebar to the right of the post area. It defaults to a Recent Topics box on top and a Tag Cloud below. Add a widget and it will replace the tag cloud. In News Magazine Theme 640 Options, the choice can be made to show or hide the Custom Sidebar elements. Next option, "Position for sidebar 2 widgets" allows to choose 1 to put the added widget on top or 2 for bottom.

Here's what happens ...

Hide Custom Sidebar elements with no widgets added, the Tag Cloud still appears. It should be blank. Add any widget and the widget appears twice.

Show Custom Sidebar elements with no widgets added: A) If set to 1, you'll see the Recent Topics and nothing below. We should see the widget above the topics box. B). If set to 2, you'll see the topics box above the tag cloud (default).

Add any widget: A) If set to 1, you'll see the Recent Topics and nothing below. We should see the widget above the topics box. B). If set to 2, you'll see the widget first, the topics box below and then the widget repeats. What should happen is we see the topics box with the widget below.

This is Poltergeist to me. I have no idea what's forcing it to happen. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
