screenshotIn answer to questions about how to get images to show in News Magazine Theme 640 when running with the magazine layout turned on, you do not need to do anything differently from how you normally do it.  As long as you are attaching the images to your posts by uploading them from your computer using the Add an Image -> Add media files from your computer in your post editor, the last image you upload to your post will display automatically.

If the image is not showing up it might be because your system is not able to process the function that prepares the image for the cropper to display. In that case there is an alternate function you can try so use the contact form to request the file with the alternate function.

screenshotNews Magazine Theme 640 has been updated to version 1.5.3. The update fixes a few issues and prepares the theme for translation. Among the issues addressed, there was a problem with the narrow sidebar. It was picking up the widgets from the sidebar used on the index page. It is supposed to be picking up the widgets placed in the widget box titled “SidebarNarrow”.

Some people were having problems with the images not displaying. The function that prepares the image for display has been modified to make it work on a wider range of servers.

In some cases images were overlapping the post details box on when viewing single posts. This has been fixed.

The preparation of the theme for translation is still a work in progress. If anyone needs the default POT file that’s currently available contact me via the contact form and I will email it to you.

screenshotTuaug4 has been updated to version 1.4. The update fixes the issues with the drop down menu where you couldn’t see all your menu items. It also fixes a number of style issues. The default font size has been increased because it really was way too small as some users pointed out. The default font family has also been changed from “Century Gothic’ because Century Gothic is not a standard font.

Images with captions were not being properly displayed in previous versions. That issue has been fixed as well as removing the caption shortcode from the index page excerpts.

A few people have contacted me with concerns over the “Add Post”  link that appears in the menu that goes to the dashboard when clicked. They are concerned this link gives access to the dashboard to anyone who clicks it. This concern is unnecessary. The “Add Post” link only appears if you are logged in as the administrator. If you are logged out you will notice the link does not appear. If you login as someone other than the admin you will also notice that the link does not appear. This is because the link is never shown to anyone other than the administrator. However, if you still prefer to remove the link, please keep an eye out for version 1.0.5.2 of the theme. I will add a remove option to the theme options to make it easier for you to remove the link.

In the meantime, please be assured that no one but you, the administrator, can access the dashboard through the “Add Post” link displayed in the menu because no one buy you, the administrator, is shown the “Add Post” link.

If you are using News Magazine Theme 640 you need to keep in mind that the “IndexPageSidebar”  widget space is specficially for the Index page. Widgets you put there will show up in the leftmost column of the second row of content on the index page. The “regular” sidebars are “Sidebar Narrow” and “Sidebar Other”. Sidebar Narrow is meant to hold the content for the movable sidebar which is narrowest of the two regular sidebars. Sidebar Other is the second sidebar that’s a little wider than the narrow sidebar.

nm640sidebars

To avoid layout issues please do not put all your sidebar elements into one block and only put elements that will fit into the allotted sidebar space. The Index Page Sidebar for example is set to hide anything that overflows so you can’t put more there than it can display. The other sidebars will adjust to your content vertically, but if you put something into the narrow sidebar that is too wide for a 120 pixels wide space the element will stretch beyond the limits of the space and spoil your layout. Use the wider sidebar for elements that need more than 120 pixels of horizontal space. Use “Sidebar Other” for elements that are up to 230 pixels wide.

Thanks to Tanner Campbell for bringing some errors in the theme Chocolate Milk to my attention. Those particular errors have been fixed and the package has been updated, so if you are using the Chocolate Milk theme on your site you should download the updated package and replace your current files. The version number is still the same only because I forgot to update it.

While I was fixing the errors I also added support for sticky posts.

Also noticed the license terms in the previous package had not been updated so the license was reading something other than GPL. Please excuse that error. Chocolate Milk and all of our other themes are GPL. The package has been updated with the correct license terms. If you’re using any of our themes and see something next to the license terms other than GPL please notify us.
