The red bar in the Producer theme has two links on the left side. The links are “Get news via RSS” and “Follow comments via RSS”. These are just links to your WordPress RSS feeds. There is nothing you need to do to set them up to work, but you do have some options in the theme options page that relate to these.

RSS Search Bar

Activate RSS Search Bar Row

Select activate to display or deactivate to hide top row with the rss links and search box?

If you prefer not to have the red bar altogether, then you should set Activate RSS Search Bar Row to “deactivate”. If you set it to deactivate then you don’t need to worry about any of the other settings

Turn off/on row 1 right border separator

Select off to remove or on to show the right border separating the list items in Row 1

The right border separator is the red line between “Get news via RSS” and “Follow comments via RSS“. You can remove this if desired by setting Turn off/on row 1 right border separator to off.

Show/Hide Hide Row 1 RSS icons

Select hide to conceal or show to display the RSS icons in row 1.

If you want to remove the icons that show in front of the “Get news via RSS” and “Follow comments via RSS” links you can do so by setting Show/Hide Hide Row 1 RSS icons to hide.

Link 1 URL RSS Search Bar Row If you prefer to link to something other than the RSS feed page enter the full URL to the page you want to link to.

This can remain empty if you are using the “Get news via RSS” link. You can actually change the link to something else or hide it completely. If you change it to link to something other than your RSS feed, then you need to enter the URL to where you want the link to take the visitor. URL should be in the format http://www.xxxxx. If you are using the Get news via RSS link do not enter a URL unless you are using a different service to process your feed. If you are using feedburner do not enter a URL. You have options in the theme options for setting up your feedburner. If you setup feedburner “Get news via RSS” will automatically link to your feedburner.

Link 1 text RSS Search Bar Row The text for user to click on to go to the page set in link 1 url.

If you change “Get news via RSS” to point to something new then you can change the text to something other than “Get news via RSS“. Just enter your new text in the box.

Link 2 URL RSS Search Bar Row If you prefer to link to something other than the comments RSS feed page enter the full URL to the page you want to link to.

This can remain empty if you are using the “Follow comments via RSS” link. You can change the link to something else or hide it completely. If you change it to link to something other than your comments RSS feed, then you need to enter the URL to where you want the link to take the visitor. URL should be in the format http://www.xxxxx. If you are using the Follow comments via RSS link do not enter a URL.

Link 2 text RSS Search Bar Row The text for user to click on to go to the page set in link 2 url.

If you change “Follow comments via RSS” to point to something new then you can change the text to something other than “Follow comments via RSS“. Just enter your new text in the box.

Link 1 icon file url Full URL to the icon you want to use with link 1. Leave empty if not using an icon. Remember to check hide icon to remove the default icon. If using your own icon just enter the url to the icon file. Do not check hide icon in that case. With hide selected no icon will display even if you enter a URL above.

If you need to change the RSS icon in the “Get news via RSS” spot to something else. Enter the URL to the icon file. The URL must be in the format http://www.xxxxx

Link 2 icon file url Full URL to the icon you want to use with link 2. Leave empty if not using an icon. Remember to check hide icon to remove the default icon. If using your own icon just enter the url to the icon file. Do not check hide icon in that case. With hide selected no icon will display even if you enter a URL above.

If you need to change the RSS icon in the “Follow comments via RSS” spot to something else. Enter the URL to the icon file. The URL must be in the format http://www.xxxxx

Clear RSS news Link

If you prefer to clear the RSS news link altogether select hide to conceal Get News Via RSS

You might prefer to have the space where “Get news via RSS” is placed left empty. If that is the case then set Clear RSS news Link to hide

Clear RSS comments link

If you prefer to clear the RSS news link altogether select hide to conceal Follow comments via RSS.

You might prefer to have the space where “Follow comments via RSS” is placed left empty. If that is the case then set Clear RSS comments link to hide

Insert Item after RSS comments link Do you need to insert a link or other item in the RSS block? Enter the code to render the content. Be mindful that you need to enter code for an item than can fit properly into the space. If you need to make room and you do not need the links get news via rss or follow comments via rss then you can clear those links to free space for your new content. Content will remain aligned to the left of the search box

This option is for if you want a third link next to “Follow comments via RSS” or if you want to use the space for some other content. For example  if you have cleared the news link and the rss link you’ll then have a bit of empty space. If you wanted to put something else in that empty space then you would enter the HTML content code into the box. As a general rule don’t try to insert content into the space that is too wide or too high to accommodate the space without messing up your design.

Clear custom RSS link

The custom RSS link is the link you insert using the box directly above. If you need to remove but don’t want to clear out the code then use this option to hide it

Let’s say you added a custom link using Insert Item after RSS comments link and then later you change your mind about the link. You could just remove the code you inserted into Insert Item after RSS comments link; but if you’re not sure if you might change your mind again and want to restore the link, then instead of removing the code, just set “Clear custom RSS link” to hide

1. If you prefer not to have the red bar altogether, then you should set Activate RSS Search Bar Row to “deactivate”. If you set it to deactivate then you don’t need to worry about any of the other settings
