When you first turn on magazine mode with the Producer Theme, your home page will be blank. That is because you do not have any featured categories setup by default. You will need to go to your producer theme options and setup your featured categories to fill the blank space.

You should try the theme in static mode before you experiment with widgets mode. If you have fewer than 3 categories on your site, it is best to use Producer in standard non-magazine mode. You need at least 3 categories to make the best use of Producer in magazine mode, and your categories should each have more than one post. If you do not have three or more categories or your categories don’t each have more than 1 post you should use Producer in standard non-magazine mode until you build up some content.

When you setup your featured categories, you need to select the number of posts you want to show for each category. You can show a different number for each category. You also need to set a character limit for the excerpt.

Your featured category excerpts are taken from the post excerpt. If you prefer to control the excerpt text be sure to add your preferred excerpt text when you make your post.

  1. Hi, as i’ve written yesterday, i’m trying to use producer theme in magazine static mode, i set the featured category but my page still remains blank. I’ve tried to install it in another domain on the same hosting and i had the same problem. So, it’s a permission problem or i’m doing something wrong in settings?

    • Hi Livia, your problem sounds similar to what Kyle is reporting but I’m not aware of any problem in the default package with setting up the featured categories in static mode. It is working on my test sites and on quite a large number of user sites as well, so if I could access your site to see what the problem might be that would be helpful.
