Digital Media Production

Producer Theme

Producer is a highly flexible free WordPress theme that can be used to build a standard blog or a magazine style blog. Producer provides an attractive default theme which you can use as is. For even greater flexibility use the premium CSS styling tool  to change background color, add background images, change font colors, sizes, styles and completely change your site’s design without editing a single line of code. With the CSS styling tool you can create an unlimited number of unique designs based on the Producer mainframe. (This site uses the Producer theme. The CSS Styling tool was used to modify the design)

Run Producer in static mode to use the out of the box design or switch to widgets to drag and drop featured categories where you want them and mix them up with your other widgets to achieve the look you want for your site.

Run with 1 sidebar activated, both sidebars activated or no sidebars activated.

Place sidebars side by side to left of content, side by side to right of content or separated on left and right of content.

Control which sidebars appear on 404, index, search results single post pages and regular pages.

Magazine mode has 2 layout options.

Header section items ( logo/slogan row, horizontal menu row, search bar row, hidden leaderboard row) can be rearranged.

10 featured category slots available. Use only what you need. Sticky post, feed-burner and many more options.

The CSS styling tool is the only thing not included in the free package. As with any other theme, you can still edit the styles manually to achieve the look you want. The below is an example of a design done with the CSS Styling tool using Producer in non-magazine mode.

Example of a desgin done with the CSS Styling Tool

The CSS Styling tool has been created to make the task of changing the look of your theme as easy as entering the colors, sizes, image file URLs and other styling elements into a text box and pressing the submit button.   The CSS styling tool is pretty extensive as it aims to give you control over as many styling elements as possible. This means you can create completely new designs without having to change any code, which will make updating theme versions less of a hassle. It’s a lifesaver for anyone who doesn’t know how to edit PHP code and even for those who do but prefer a simpler, faster way of getting the job done.

Producer is in the first phase of it’s life. If you are using the theme and would like to help improve it please report any problems you are experiencing with it.

Thank you so much, I will get to the css-ing! :)

Your answer to my question no.1 – I don’t see a link where you say “download here”.. Maybe you mean on this site? :)

And – I would like to remove the “register” and “log in”-links i the footer, how?

I may also want to get the search-bar a bit more to the right, how do I do that? :)

  2. khoo says:

Any way to configure thumnbail generated in the main page. I found the thumbnail looking odd/ugly if picture in the posting is small.

Or I need to engage your paid service to receive support for this technical question. If yes, please let me know your charge.

    Thx

  3. admin says:

khoo, can you show me an example of what you mean regarding the thumbnail? Right now there are no dashboard options for controlling the thumbnails. You’ll need to edit the file to change the dimensions there so let me know which section so that I can be more specific as to which file needs to be edited and where.

    Hi

Great theme, thanks for sharing. I’ve just installed the Producer Theme and I was wondering if you can tell me the settings that I should use to make it look precisely like in the demo picture. Thanks in advance.

    Regards

  5. admin says:

Marita, to remove the login and register links in the footer you need to edit them out of the file footer.php. The search bar class can be found in styles.css. Look for #maincontainer .dtsa .sa { Looks like I did not link to the language file and now in checking the file I see it contains some errors so I will fix those errors and then provide the download link for the language file.

Dan, the demo picture is based on running with magazine mode set to: on using magazine layout 1 in static mode

    Great theme.
I have installed and activated this theme, I would like to use it for my photography business. What do I need to do to show a slideshow of my portfolio and how do I use css styling

    Thank you

  8. Lola says:

Do you have some kind of page to let complete novices know what each of the things I would be changing with the CSS tool? For instance, I have having hard time knowing what H1, H2, TH heading, etc…doing trial and error tweaking is little time consuming. i need some kind of guide so I know what I am trying to change…am I hopeless? Thx.

  9. admin says:

Lola, each item has a description of what it does, but I will try to make the descriptions a little bit clearer. I can see where some of them might not be clear enough.

  10. Lola says:

Just some of the header names etc are not clear. But I will figure it out. Where do I change the background on the page navigation, on this page it’s black, with Home, About, Buy Products, etc…

I thought it would be Page Navigation under Page Body. I want it to be black, but it doesn’t seem to work. My page is http://lolracepics.com if that helps.

    Thanks!

  11. admin says:

Lola, all the navigation CSS settings are under Horizontal Navigation Menu CSS Settings so if you scroll down to that you will see the options, and if you mean to change the link color then you need Color For horizontal menu links

  12. admin says:

mutape, if you could describe what you have in mind for a slideshow of your portfolio, I can probably add something to the theme to accommodate this need. The CSS styling tool is something you need to purchase.

  13. Lola says:

    Hi again,

Can you look at my site (http://lolracepics.com) and tell me why the horizontal nav. row is too wide and the title and search rows are shorter. I would think they should all be the same width and also the same with as the page body…but i don’t see where i can tweak think in CSS tool.

Thx! (sorry to be a pain here)

  14. Lola says:

Also…I can’t seem to get the Sidebar 2 to become outlined like Sidebar one is. I have the border turned on in CSS tool and have the same settings as the sidebar 1, but it doesnt want to show up.

  15. admin says:

Lola, an update with some style fixes will be released today. Will let send you the files when ready.

  16. Jayce says:

    To Admin,

I have installed the producer theme and is working fine. However no posts are showing on the default homepage! Why is this?

    Jayce

  17. Thank you for your free great theme, and I really love and apply it on my web.
    Regards….

  18. admin says:

Jayce, are you running with magazine mode “on”? If so, have you setup any featured categories from the theme options page? You need to setup the categories that the posts need to be pulled from.

  19. admin says:

Lola, you should have received an updated copy of the CSS Styling Tool along with a copy of Producer 2.1. These should fix the issues you are having with margins and the sidebar border settings not taking for sidebar 2. Please let me know if the problems persist even after the update.

  20. Maureen says:

I was wondering why, on my sidebar, under my featured categories, it lists the main post and then the subpost, however why does it list the main article again as a subpost? I want every thing to look the way it does under my “Lifestyle” category, but can’t. The pictures are a little too big and cannot figure out how to change them. I am also noticing a problem with some people’s computer’s at work. The pictures posted are overlapping the text. And my last question is where can I find the CSS styling tool?

  21. admin says:

Hi Marueen, can you give me some information about how you are setup? For example are you running in static magazine mode, widgets magazine mode, blog mode etc and what’s supposed to be in your sidebars? Have you dragged any of the Featured Category widgets in Sidebar One or Sidebar Two?

  22. Maureen says:

I am in widget mode. I have all of my Featured Categories under Sidebar One.

  23. Maureen says:

A little more info for you: I have magazine layout mode ‘on’ and am in the widget layout mode. I also have Sidebar One selected for my homepage and all of my Featured Categories are under Sidebar One. Hope that helps you.

  24. admin says:

Maureen, I think I might have misread your original post. If I am understanding correctly, the reason the display is different from your Lifestyles display is because each featured category has a different layout. They are really not meant for your sidebars, though you can put them in the sidebars if you want, but they will display the way they are setup to display. Some of the categories are displayed with a pic and excerpt, some with just the post title in a list of latest posts from the category, some with a pic, excerpt and an additional list of titles from latest posts in the category.

Let me know if I am still misunderstanding your question.

  25. Maureen says:

You answered my question, thanks. I was also wondering why I find the CSS Style kit thingy.

  26. admin says:

Maureen the CSS Styling Tool is not included in the package. It’s something that has to be purchased. You can read more at http://www.antisocialmediallc.com/producer-theme/

  27. Andrew says:

Hi… great theme with some really cool features.

I’m having a problem… in magazine layout, with widgets and layout 3, the title (and the title link) for the top post is displayed for each subsequent post in the featured category. The image is correct in the posts following the top post and the image link is linking to the correct post, but the title for every post in the category is the same.

I appreciate your advice and assistance with this.

  28. admin says:

Andrew this seems to be a problem happening only in widgets mode. Will be trying to get it sorted soon

  29. dionne says:

this site is really nice. I am just having trouble with the design, widgets and the sidebars. Is there a guide/handbook for the site or better yet can you help customize my site and indicate how much the charge will be. Thanks so much-I desperately need to get this site up and running and need help immediately!

  30. dionne says:

I really need help in customizing the layout with the magazine style, three columns and widgets. Is there a handbook. Also can you contact me about customizing for me for a fee.

  31. Rob says:

Thanks for a great template. I am barely using any of the functionality and love it, can’t wait to play around with it a little more.

I have not purchased the CSS tool (sorry) and there are two changes I would like manually make.

    1) turn the borders off for the sidebards (or set to 0px)
    2) change the color of the top bar

Are those possible to change in the editor files?

    Thanks!

  32. admin says:

Hi Rob, yes these can be manually changed. I will go ahead and answer your questions by making a post and a forum topic for the benefit of anyone else who needs to change these options manually; but I do recommend purchasing the styling tool so that you do not have to keep on making these changes with every new update.

  33. Rob says:

Will you post the reply on these comments?

  34. admin says:

Hi Rob, not sure I’m following but in case you mean the links to the how to for the previous questions you’ve asked here they are
How to turn the borders off for the sidebars in Producer
How to change the color of the top bar in Producer

  35. John S says:

You probably did answer my question before (Sorry I cannot see trace of it).
I have the CSS Styling Tool and I am using for navigation the categories. I am looking for a way to change the HOME (main page) to display Accueil in french. Is ther any way to do this ?
    Thank you

  36. John S says:

I have installed the latest 2.1.8 Producer CSS Styling Tool
I can no longer see where is the “Page Body To Margin” option.

It used to be under Page Body CSS Settings but is no longer there (I think).

    Many thanks,

  37. admin says:

John S, you would have to do it by editing it directly in the file header.php.

  38. admin says:

John S, I am checking on that missing Page Body Top Margin setting.
