screenshotIf you are having problems with the thumbnails not showing up you can try the following to see if it resolves the problem. In the file functions.php there are 2 functions named prepsimageurl($src). One of the functions active and the other is commented to disable it. The commented function has a /* at the start of it and a */ at the end of it. What you need to do is put the active function in commented state and uncomment the inactive version of prepsimageurl($src). Just follow the pattern for commenting by mimicking the currently commented version of prepsimageurl($src). In other words, switch the /* */ from the inactive version of prepsimageurl($src) to the active version so that the inactive version becomes the active version and the active version becomes inactive. If you have problems getting this done I’ll be more than happy to help. Just contact me via the contact form. Important: Please do not attempt the file edit unless you are confident of your ability to make the change without creating an error in the file.

  1. There is only ONE prepsimageurl($src)in functions.php

I scanned the document several times, am I missing something?

    Thanks!

  2. Hey there! Lovely theme. I so want to use it :) But I seem to be having the same problem as some other people were having. On the index page it isn’t showing thumbnails of images I inserted into the blog posts. I tried your alternate function but it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have the new version 1.5.4

  3. OMG! I just did this, exactly following the directions, and NOW I can’t sign in to my admin, and my website won’t load!!

I switched the */ */ from bottom to top, saved it, and now I’m locked out. Please, please, e-mail me, what the heck is going on. I’m freaking out now…

    Stacy

  4. P.S. I can sign in to my CPANEL, just can’t load website or get into Admin. If I can have that new function.php file, maybe it will restore everything. Ugh!

    • Hi Stacy, sounds like you might have made an error in the file. Use the contact form to reach me. I’ll reply back so you can email me your file and I’ll get it fixed for you.

  5. Phew!! I just fixed it through CPANEL by reversing what I did. Anyways, I need to see an example of what I need to do in order to fix the image problem. Could copy/paste the code that needs look like what your talking about above so that I don’t mess up again? Here it is…

  6. I’m having the same issue of photo thumbnails not showing up on the homepage. I followed the instructions to activate the second method in the function.php file to no avail. I would dearly love to use this theme, but how can I get it to work? Is there an instruction manual to go with this theme? -E.

  7. Good day! I figured out my error and the theme appears to be working properly. However, is there a way to reuse the same image? I see that the theme doesn’t like reusing the same image on the home screen (such as an author/writer’s image). Instead of republishing the image, the theme publishes a No Image icon.

Thank you for the lovely theme :)

  8. It worked!! In order to get the images, under the WordPress Theme edit toward the bottom of the Dashboard, change all images to thumbprint, turn off the magazine theme for a few seconds, then turn it back on, and as long as the images are thumbprint they will appear! Whew!!

  9. Stacy – I am hoping your fix will work for me, but I’m having a hard time locating where you found it. You said under the WordPress Theme edit…towards the bottom of the dashboard? Do you mean the Theme Editor? where you can change the code of the various files that make up the theme? I’m not seeing anywhere that I have an option in the dashboard to change all images to thumbprint. I was supposed to have fixed this problem this weekend, but it’s not looking good. -E.

  10. Cannot get thumbmnail images to appear on home page. I have tried everything imaginable short or rewriting all the code.

  11. I was having the same problem. I finally tried uploading an image from within the new post form, rather than pasting in the URL to an existing image and it shows up on the front page without a problem. Of course, if you don’t want an image in your post, this method would cause a problem.

  12. I tried your fix Linda, and now I no longer get the “No Image” image, but instead I get the post title in a gray text box that links to the post. Still no image ;~;

    • Foodie it looks like you are using Antisnews and not News Magazine Theme 640. The cropper in antisnews might need some modifications. Please contact me using the contact form so that I can send you a test copy to see if it fixes your problem.

    • Foodie, I emailed you a new version of cropper.php. I don’t know whether or not you received it. I hope it has helped to resolve the problems.

  13. Love the theme and I am having the same issue with the thumbnails not showing on the home page. I am using the caffeinated content plugin and the articles are posted with pictures and would prefer to have the pictures added automatically into the thumbnails, or at the least, set-up each category to show a specific graphic. Can you help with this problem? Thanks a bunch!

    • David, at this time the theme will only work if you are uploading the images on a post by post basis using the WP media uploader.

  14. Does the image cropper work with linked images in posts, or just images uploaded to one’s server? I can’t get it to work with linked images, but I don’t want to have to upload every image I use in a post, because that would waste a lot of storage space and could cause copyright problems. How do I get the image cropper to find linked images in posts?

  15. admin, so an image cannot be used more than once as a thumbnail. I have some icon images that i use with certain categories but when i used an image for a second time, it didnt show. thanks in advance for the advice.

  16. I love the theme but it’s sad that it will not work with linked images. Can I assume then that it works the same way with Antisnewsl? If so, do you have any plans to add the functionality? Or can you suggest a quick work around that may help?

    Again, great theme!

    JJ

    • Joe, yes it works the same with Antisnews, but working on fixing both themes to be able to use linked images. Unfortunately could take a few weeks to get it done.

  17. I’m having difficulty with the thumbnails as others have had and I am not tech-savvy enough to fix the problem myself. I am desperate to get my site up within the next few days and was wondering if there is any way that you could help me. I would greatly appreciate hearing from you as soon as you possible could.

Thanks in advance for your assistance and for a fabulous theme!!

    Much appreciated,

    Marjorie

    • Marjorie, I would love to help. Please use the contact form to reach me. I will need to check out the problem directly on your site.
