OK. I realize, now, that the blank space left on either side of the the image in Cat #3 is because I don’t have the vertical ad space turned on.
I am still wondering about cropping and size guideline, though. Also, and I may just be imagining this, but I uploadea picture to an article that had the same pixel ratio as your sample picture (185×125, maybe–I wrote it down at home), which it took as the image for the homepage. I then tried to change the image to a square one. The image on the homepage remained the same, but the square one showed up with the article. Does this make sense? It actually could be a way to manually manipulate the cropping. Any insights would be appreciated.

David, images are cropped from the small versions, medium versions and large versions of whatever image you upload depending on where the image is used.
The best practice is to upload images that are large enough that when WordPress creates the small and medium versions of the image, the small is at least 150 pixels wide and the medium at least 300.

Kindly let me know how to have thumbnails showing on the front-page because they are failing. What I have tried;
1. I have switched the Thumbnail Function Switcher between 1 and 2. No help.
2. I have used the excerpts? or customized.. fields.. and made a new field for (thumbnail). I use thumbnail in each article but they don’t show up on front-page. Only when the link is clicked to and article opens to full.

Hello Admin, I was wondering how do you put things on the two empty dark sides on the left and right of the page? I was thinking of putting a skyscraper ad, it would work perfectly on there, but I had no success of doing it. Your help would be appreciated, thanks.
Omar, you would have to use absolute positioning to achieve what you are trying to do I would think, but the spaces might not be wide enough to accommodate a skyscraper ad, at least not one with a 160pixel width, but I could be wrong.
So just relaunched my site from scratch and decided to use this wonderful theme. Currently however I’m using blog mode until I get more content (posts) in as the theme looks silly with no content.
Any ever, my question is this, how do I show the “post comment link/view number of comments link” from the main blog page under each entry? As it is now I have to click on the story title and go to the page to see, read, or posts comments. Is this option somewhere I overlooked or do I need to hack the code?
Hi Tristin, sorry there isn’t an option for that. You will have to add the code for that where you want it to appear in the page for the time being.
Great theme. It is possible to have a category specific latest topics widget? The latest topics thumbnail widget which shows on the post and category pages is affecting the google adsense quality. Ads often are relavent to the latest posts and not the actual post on the page or related category which makes it less likely I will get clicks.
I love the way the recent topics looks on the page with the image thumbs put would love it if they were limited to recent posts in the same category…

Hi, I just want to say that this is a fantastic theme. I have a quick question though. I’m using the theme in blog mode (instead of magazine) and I’m displaying the content in excerpt mode. I was wondering whether there is a way for me to display the date and author right below the title of each post on the index page? Many blogs (i.e., TechCrunch) show the author and date right after the title of each post on the homepage.

Thanks for your reply. I am not getting any Comment forms either on the Single Posts or the Pages. All the settings (WordPress and Theme )are set to show Comments.
Plus I am still having problems with a spare (empty column) on both the Single Post and Page. I am using all columns and there are widgets in each one. Strangely enough, the only “full page” is any ARCHIVE page.
For example:
ARCHIVE http://www.spygun.com/?cat=5 three columns
POST http://www.spygun.com/?p=3472 empty column + NO Comments
PAGE http://www.spygun.com/?page_id=2 empty column + NO Comments

Hi Richard, read a few of the posts on your blog. Nice work. Regarding the comments issue, by chance do you have comments turned off in the theme options page?
As to the spare columns problem, I am a bit unclear as to the problem. Can you please provide a little more detail?
Comments are turned on in the theme options page and everywhere else.
AS far as the missing column is concerned – I cannot get any content into the empty column on the PAGES or on the individual POSTS. There are only two columns showing on those pages with the third one blank, although all four sidebars do have some sort of content in them.
The only type of page which is “full” i.e , three full columns is the ARCHIVE page.

Love the theme! But is there any way I can get a full blog roll under teir 2? So that after teir one I could have a blog sections at the same time. Basically have both modes running at the same time.
Jon, you should be able to if you put it inside the Extra Row Sidebar assuming you have the Extra content row activated
I am trying to get the content of the post/story in Tier1Main right to show. The headline shows but no story.
Please let me know where to fix this.

Hi Jen, this is actually not an error. It is designed that way to show only the thumbnail and the title for Tier1Main right.

I’m using News Magazine Theme 640 1.6.1, i changed it a little, picture and texts, and now I have to update with very big attention.
But I have another question-problem, i tried to find here any other post about that, but seems no-one had the same:
