About
Antisnews is a premium wordpress news/magazine theme for building news type or magazine type websites using wordpress as the CMS. It allows you to pull content from specified featured categories to display in a clean, attractive layout on your index page. You don’t need to edit any files to setup your categories. Just go to the theme’s options page from your wp dashboard and select which category you want to feature in which featured category slot.
Images are pulled directly from posts to eliminate any need for you to add custom fields. For an image to accompany a post you only need to upload one to your post using the media uploader. See the features list below for more information about Antisnews and visit the demo site to see a live demonstration of the theme.
Features:
- 6 featured category slots on index page

- 3rd column can be moved to the left to become first column or back to right whichever position works for you

- Horizontal categories menu with drop down menus for children categories

- 4 available slots for widgets on index page. Slots contain default content. To change content drag and drop in widgets from wordpress admin dashboard

- Add your google analytics code to the footer of your page from theme options

- Standard sidebars ready for drag and drop widgets
- Turn on or off comments on post pages

I really love this theme and are already using the free version! Thankyou! But now i would like to use the premium version on my site but i wouldnt ike to pay for it over the internet. I would prefer to go to the bank and pay for it! Is it possible? I hope so!

Helle, online is the only available option for payment unless you wish to send your payment via regular postal mail. In that case please use the contact form to reach me. It would mean, however, that you would not receive the files before your check cleared.
Very nice theme(actually, all of them are). Question: Does Antisnews include ad spots on single.php and the rest of the pages(category, page,etc), or one would have to add them? Does the top ad slot exist in the Antisnews the same as News 640 theme?

I’m interested in purchasing this theme, but i’m trying to get the free version to work (news magazine theme 640) and cannot get the images to pull from the posts, even trying your alternate method in the function.php file…so, until I can get that fixed, i can’t justify purchasing this version. I’m sure it’s something simple, if someone can point me in the right direction. Another user, Stacy, mentioned something about changing all the images to thumbnail size would help. Is this the answer? -E.
Emily if you would like you can contact me via the contact form. I generally prefer to take a look at your site and try to determine the problem based on your installation. There technically should be no need for you to do anything special to get the thumbnails to show up. They should be showing automatically provided your server does not have any problem with the cropper tool.
Emily I have checked your site and fixed the issue for you. I am posting here for the benefit of anyone else who might be having trouble for a similar reason. The problem you were having is with the way you installed the theme. You needed to upload only the folder news-magazine-theme-640 into wp-content/themes. However you uploaded news-magazine-theme-640.1.5.4/news-magazine-theme-640 so instead of wp-content/themes/news-magazine-theme-640 your path was reading wp-content/themes/news-magazine-theme-640.1.5.4/news-magazine-theme-640 and this prevented the images from showing.
Can you describe more specific side-by-side difference between paid and free version?
I’ve tried the free version and it’s look very good and satisfy my needs except, maybe need some work to insert adsense code.
Some annoying thing is too much blank space in top of the page, and hard to change theme’s color one by one on stylesheet.
tohizma, there is no paid and free version of the theme. News Magazine Theme 640 is just a free theme that was designed from the Antisnews template. It is not packaged as a free version of Antisnews and should not be regarded that way. Yes, it resembles antisnews, it was created from the antisnews template but it is a separate theme, not a version of Antisnews free or otherwise.
Hi, just installed this and I was having difficulty getting images to show in the one test post I did.
I uploaded the images with the media manager, but I can see no way to link the images to the post. There is no article link in the images when I edit them, nor does there seem to be a way within the post to link in an imaged uploaded with media manager.
What am I missing?
Hi, there. Looks like this theme will be the best for me. It’s just so elegant and beautiful…. But I have problems installing it, forgive me I’m just a newbie. I do the standard upload, and than don’t know what’s happening. Could you please help? this is what it says –

I’m trying to get different images for the features on the home page of the blog and I’m stuck! I have repeating fruits all over the place, can you tell me how to have individual pictures instead for the featured items?

Jacklyn, I apologize for the time it has taken to answer your question. If you have uploaded unique pictures to accompany your posts the pictures in the post should be the ones that show. Perhaps I am not 100% clear on the exact nature of the trouble you’re experiencing.
I bought the premium version yesterday morning off of antisocial media productions via PayPal, and I was under the impression that I was supposed to receive the software in my e-mail as an attachment, but I have yet to receive it. Simon, there were some errors in the latest 2 versions 1.6.2 and 1.6.3. Please download the package again. The newest version 1.6.4 should solve those missing argument errors.

I am using your free theme, I like this but unfortunately its looks odd on internet explorer and on Devious browser. I am thinking to change these theme. if you have any suggestion please help me….
I was looking at the demo for this. The inner pages are broken in IE7. The two left columns drop below the right column.
hello, i’m having some troubles with the wide featured category thumbnails.
they are cropped/generated in the size of 280×125 and i think that the size should have been rather 350×125. i’ve tried editing the style.css with no success. thank you!
I like this theme, it fits most of my requirements. I am evaluating it for purchase.
But, I see one issue in the demo version. It shows the home page fine, but when I click on any title or category, the page displayed is not aligned. First all the categories etc (left side bar) is shown with blank space on the content side. I’m able to see the content only when I scroll down. I am seeing the demo with 17″ monitor with more than 1300 pixel wide screen.
Another question I have is if crops the blog post images automatically for showing in the homepage or with each post we need to provide two versions of images – large for showing in the post and small for homepage?
Also, can we further customize some options like showing Sign Up/ Sign-in option in the header menu or side bar, adding polls (through some widget) etc? Will this theme support other wordpress features like posting of articles/ blogs by users if they have author access?

zmin, if you want to edit the sizes for the thumbnails you’ll have to go into includes/featuredX.php with “X” representing the value 1-6 or whichever featured category thumbnail image you are trying to modify. Look in the file for the reference to &h=75&w=75. 75 is just an example from one of the files. You will change the value to suit your needs but be mindful of how it might affect the rest of the layout

1. I do not currently keep track of who buys the themes and where they use them. You can do a Google search around the theme name. Maybe some users will keep the credit in the footer and you can find them that way.
2. Yes, in the provided spaces. There are currently 3 on the home page and 1 within the post pages.
3. No, the theme will not put a thumbnail of video on the home page unless you upload an image with the video post and the post is categorized under one of your featured categories.
4. At this time the dimensions of the images is built in to accommodate the layout.

Antisnews – Can you advise on the optimum size for pictures that will be displayed in the featured category slideshow. The thumbnails show up fine nop matter the original size but the slideshow pic is always huge and pixelated.
Also, where do you prefer i post support questions for Antisnews?

dadlounge, for images used with the slideshow the width needs to be at least 600 pixels and the height at least 310 pixels.

Can you assign a fixed pic for category 6 instead of the puzzle piece that will remain even though the post has a different pic inserted?

Just wanted to thank the admin for almost immediate response. It ended up being a technical issue on one of my computers… not sure what happened, but the important thing is that It’s up and running now.
For anyone thinking of buying a theme from antisocialmedia, it is worth every penny, and in my experience the troubleshooting/technical support is pretty quick.
